Crystal plasticity modeling of non-Schmid yield behavior: from Ni3Al single crystals to Ni-based superalloys

چکیده

A Crystal Plasticity Finite Element (CPFE) framework is proposed for modeling the non-Schmid yield behavior of L12 type Ni3Al crystals and Ni-based superalloys. This relies on estimation model parameters directly from orientation- temperature-dependent experimental stress data. The inelastic deformation extended to precipitate phase superalloys in a homogenized dislocation density based crystal plasticity framework. used simulate single superalloy, CMSX-4, temperature range 260-1304 K. Model predictions are general agreement with experiments. also made regarding tension-compression asymmetry dominant slip mechanism at over standard stereographic triangle various temperatures both these materials. These provide valuable insights underlying (orientation- temperature-dependent) mechanisms yield. In this regard, may serve as standalone analytical predicting stress, function orientation temperature.

Aspects of Non-associated Single Crystal Plasticity: Influence of Non-schmid Effects and Localization Analysis

Abstract--The aim of this work is the consideration of so-called non-Schmid effects within nonassociated single crystal plasticity at small strains. To this end, two additional activating mechanisms for dislocation flow on a slip system are modelled. For convenience the corresponding algorithmic setting is discussed in the sequel. Next, the influence of non-Schmid effects and non-associativity ...

Femtosecond Laser Micromachining of Single-crystal Superalloys

Investigations on femtosecond laser micromachining of single crystal superalloys with and without plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings were conducted under laser fluences ranging from 0.1 J/cm up to 160 J/cm. Micromachining was carried out in air using a titanium:sapphire laser system ( = 780 nm) operating at a repetition rate of 1 kHz and delivering individual pulses of ~150 fs duration. Th...

Mechanism-based Constitutive Modeling of L12 Single-crystal Plasticity

Ni 3Al, an L12 structure intermetallic crystal, is the basic composition of the y' precipitates in nickel-based superalloys and is a major strengthening mechanism contributing to the superalloys' outstanding high-temperature mechanical properties. Many L12-structure crystals present unusual macroscopic mechanical properties, including the anomalous temperature-dependence of yield strength and s...

Near-tip closure and cyclic plasticity in Ni-based single crystals

Fatigue crack growth was investigated in a 001 1⁄2 oriented single crystal specimen, made of a Ni-based superalloy, Haynes 230. Crack propagation was characterized with digital image correlation: crack closure, measured by analyzing the relative displacements of crack flanks, showed closure levels much lower than polycrystal alloys. Reversed plastic zones were calculated from regressed stress i...
